Scott Smith specialises in Edged Weapons Defence, and has taught to the Police, Military aswell as to numerous well known martial arts instructors, aswell as to people with no martial arts experience at all.

Scott has studied many styles of Martial Arts, he also has the opportunity to cross train day in day out with numerous other Martial Artists, Police, Military,Special Forces,Presidential Bodyguards etc.

Scott was brought in to do a feature for ITV on Edged Weapon Defence, as there were over 54,000 RECORDED Edged weapon assaults in London alone, (that's just the ones which are recorded)

An Edged Weapon can be various different objects, most people just assume they are knives, not only are they knives, but also, Broken Glass/Bottle, Torn Drinks can, Screwdriver, Razor Blades taped to a credit card,Even a credit card that has been ran along a wall will cut you, The list is endless, however the most common edged weapon you would probably be faced with is a knife.

Unfortunately in todays street culture, edged weapon assaults are becoming more and more common, normally to feed the attackers drug habits and other addictions etc.

Scott has worked together with youth detention centre workers, prison officers, The Police, Door Supervisors, Bodyguards etc, to gather information on how it all works, the most common edged weapon attacks are with knives to threaten the individuals so that they become frightened and hand over their wallet/purse, mobile phone, jewellery etc,

Most attackers work together in gangs, it is a business for them, as they have to get around 50 phones per day to feed their habits etc, plus it's far easier for them to work together in gangs, as after the attack on the poor individual, normally the police are called, and if the attacker is ever found and searched by the police, they haven't any proof to convict them, as the items are passed on to another gang member who was not involved with that assault.
